stainless steel crowns

Stainless steel crowns are durable, pre-formed metal restorations used primarily in pediatric dentistry to restore decayed, damaged, or treated teeth. These crowns completely cover the tooth, providing long-term protection against further decay or structural issues. Commonly placed on primary (baby) teeth following pulpotomy or pulpectomy, they are also used in cases where a tooth has suffered extensive damage that a filling cannot adequately restore. Although they are not aesthetically ideal due to their metallic appearance, SSCs are highly effective, cost-efficient, and easy to place, making them a popular choice for maintaining dental health in children until the primary teeth are naturally replaced.

  • Extensive decay in primary or permanent teeth.
  • Post-pulpotomy or pulpectomy for structural protection.
  • Fractured teeth or developmental defects (e.g., hypoplasia).
  • High caries risk in children.
